Some of the things I've been up to since receiving the scholarship include:

Sara and Sophie Rasmussen at MLC's International Women's day Breakfast where Sara was the guest speaker.

  • I just graduated from UWA!
  • I was involved in running a second Catalyst Youth Summit that saw 65 young people network, take part in leadership and advocacy training,  discuss issues they face in the community and directly present their solutions to state and federal politicians.
  • I also conducted a consultation with young people from Aborigional and Torres straight backgrounds in care of State government on experiences they face. The results of the consultation were then presented in a report to CenterCare to improve services provided to those children in care.
  • In partnership with University of Melbourne and as part of my role at YACWA I led a research consultation with young people from refugee and migrant background on the unique issues they face adapting to life in Australia and what they'd like policy makers to know about their experiences.
  • I have also managed a state government funded International Youth Exchange Program to Hong Kong. I had the opportunity to prepare 12 West Australian young leaders for this international leadership experience.
  • I've been invited by Minister Paul Papalia to serve as one of his Ministerial advisors for his Citizenship and Multicultural Interests portfolio.
  •   I've had some speaking engagements as part of the scholarship experience at the City Beach Residential College Awards night and the International Women's day at MLC. I've also sat on a panel discussion forum for Student for Refugees WA, Scitech's Communicate to Inspire Conference, Young Innovators Panel, UN Youth National Conference 2017 and I'm due to speak at  Oxfam and Perth Global Shapers event. I was also invited to attend the UNHCR's annual consultation in Canberra.
  • Sally Carbon is my mentor!!!! This was set up by the Geoff Rasmussen Scholarship Fund Board. I am very excited to work with Sally.
  • I've been selected as a finalist for the WA young Achievers alongside three other amazing young women. It was so exciting to see an all girls category finalist so we've already contacted each other and had a chat to learn about each-other's work.
